How I Work

You can expect from me to be interactive in our sessions and always striving to understand your experience and your unique perspective. I am not a passive therapist – I get in the mix of it with you. I use the modalities of Mindfulness and examining the ego and its place in our lives; the work of rediscovering your Self, which is Jungian focused; understanding that we live in a hierarchal world and exploring the great societal influences that have shaped you; and Compassion Focused Therapy, which is about bringing love and deep compassion back into your life where it feels it is missing or never existed.

Part of the work we will also do together is to identify harmful structures and systems and people that are rooted in fostering and replicating trauma within you. Thus, in our time together, we will be naming, deconstructing, and transforming these external (and thus internal systems) that you live by. This can be a painful part of therapy (life) but absolutely necessary for love and compassion to return to your being.

I do believe in providing coping skills/tools, as needed, and often turn to the modality of DBT – Dialectical Behavior Therapy as my guide. Through this modality you will learn and hold the working concept of both/and (dialectical thinking), which in truth changed my life and how I think of others and the world/universe as a whole.

I have extensive group experience and have led women identified conscious raising groups, groups on strengthening our emotional intelligence, cancer support groups, and DBT groups.

I am also a qualified Washington State Approved Supervisor for those looking for supervision while working towards licensure.
